New models - MG - 7MG Motor introduces turbo-petrol MG7 fastbackNewly launched MG7 five-door offers 170kW of power, priced from $44,990 + ORC10 Dec 2025 IN WHAT some may see as a bold move, MG Motor Australia has entered the waning medium passenger car segment with a turbo-petrol powered offering dubbed the MG7.
Offered as a single, highly specified variant, the MG7 will retail from $44,990 plus on-road costs, challenging the likes of the Hyundai Sonata N-Line, Toyota Camry (Hybrid), and Skoda Octavia, providing 170kW/380Nm from its turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.
Drive is to the front wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission and electronic limited slip differential (e-LSD), while damping duties arrive courtesy of electronically controlled adaptive dampers.
The MG7’s dimensions are roughly the same as Toyota’s Camry at 4884mm in length, 1889mm in width, 1447mm in height, and with a 2778mm wheelbase.
The Chinese-made model is equipped as standard with 19-inch alloy wheels, quad exhaust tips, a panoramic sunroof, retractable rear spoiler, frameless doors, and a stack of interior amenity and technology.
Highlights from inside the cabin include a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen that plays host to a 360-degree camera system, dual-zone climate control, native sat nav, wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and a 14-speaker Bose premium audio bundle.
The interior is further punctuated by soft touch materials, dual-zone climate control, a six-way electric adjustable driver’s seat, head-up display, wireless phone charging, a comprehensive suite of MG Pilot driver safety technologies, and seven airbags.
“The new MG7 is set to be a definitive challenger in its class, MG Motor has taken timeless design cues and wrapped them around a stiff, high-quality chassis, dripping with tech, premium finishes and fun features,” said MG Motor Australia business director Kevin Gannon.
“Driving is meant to be fun, and your car makes a statement. The MG7’s striking silhouette, quad pipes, and rewarding interior is our way of letting local drivers know what you drive can still express who you are.”
The currently unrated MG7 is designed to meet five-star ANCAP safety and is backed by MG Motor Australia’s 100-plus dealership network and 10-year warranty program.
