New models - JAC - T9 - OspreyTwo Osprey variants added to JAC T9 rangeLifestyle buyers targeted by JAC’s new T9 Osprey dual-cab four-wheel drive utes2 Dec 2025 TWO additional “premium lifestyle” variants called the Osprey and the Osprey X have been added to Chinese brand JAC Motors’ T9 dual-cab four-wheel drive ute line-up Down Under priced from $46,629 and $47,079 respectively excluding on-road costs.
They join the JAC Oasis and Haven T9 models the former available in cab-chassis and dual-cab pick-up format, the latter in dual cab pick-up only both currently available with a $3500 cashback offer on while current stocks last or until the end of December.
JAC is using various marketing tools as it strives to gain a foothold in the ultra-competitive dual-cab four-wheel drive ute segment, which is currently dominated by the likes of the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Isuzu D-Max, Mitsubishi Triton, and latterly the BYD Shark 6.
All JAC T9s including the new style-enhanced Osprey variants are powered by a 125kW/410Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine paired with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, dual-range transfer case, and locking rear differential.
Combined fuel economy is a claimed 7.6 litres per 100km and the T9 scores a five-star ANCAP safety rating – the highest aggregate score for any ute at the time it was tested aided by a comprehensive ADAS array that includes 16 active safety systems.
Differentiating the up-spec T9 Ospreys is a suite of desirable so-called “lifestyle” upgrades including a power sunroof (a direct response to Australian customer feedback), tuned suspension, heated front seats, 360-degree camera, and rear privacy glass.
The top spec’ Osprey X adds distinctive black exterior styling across badges, grille, wheels, and trim.
JAC Motors “strategically engineers” the T9 Osprey and Osprey X with sub-1000kg payload making them eligible for Australia's growing novated lease and salary packaging market.
“With thousands of vehicles salary-packaged annually in Australia, the one-tonne payload threshold represents a significant commercial barrier for most dual-cab utes,” said JAC in a statement.
“JAC’s decision to engineer both Ospreys with a 980kg payload, while maintaining the T9’s renowned real-world capability, positions JAC favourably in a salary sacrifice market traditionally dominated by passenger SUVs.”
According to JAC Motors Australia managing director Ahmed Mahmoud, “The Osprey isn’t just another spec level – it’s a calculated move into a massive addressable market”.
“We’re seeing growing demand from salary packaging buyers who want ute capability with lifestyle refinement. The Osprey delivers both, and now it qualifies for their preferred finance method.”
In addition to the two new Osprey models, JAC Motors also confirmed the T9 Oasis Cab-Chassis from $41,162 plus on-road costs and standard tray that is designed for tradespeople requiring maximum fit-out flexibility.
With 1165kg of payload capacity (excluding the factory alloy tray fitted as standard), the Oasis provides a robust platform for custom work applications while maintaining dual-cab practicality.
JAC’s All Roads Assurance (JARA) provides a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty with complimentary loan ute program, 24/7 roadside assistance, and capped-price servicing.
The T9 Osprey, Osprey X, and Oasis Cab-Chassis are in dealerships now.
