WITH sales languishing towards the bottom of the segment, Chinese brand JAC has launched four new T9 variants – two of them dual-cab-chassis models and two dual-cab pick-up variants – all aimed at expanding the brand’s appeal.

Incoming are the Tradepro cab-chassis and the Oasis cab-chassis which join the Osprey and Osprey X supplementary dual-cab pick-ups at JAC dealerships from November.

Pricing details are yet to be announced, suffice to say the existing JAC T9 Oasis dual-cab pick-up is listed from $42,662 and the T9 Haven dual-cab pick-up is from $45,630 (both excluding on-road costs_.

All T9 variants are powered by JAC’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine paired producing 125kW/410Nm and paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The ute’s 4WD system features a dual-range transfer case produced by BorgWarner and a locking rear differential to help with challenging terrain.

According to JAC, the new models are “purpose-built solutions for work and lifestyle” with the two cab-chassis models targeting tradies and the two pick-ups more for general applications.

Emphasising this are customisation opportunities for the Tradepro and Oasis cab-chassis that provide up to 1165kg of payload.

Each cab-chassis variant may be fitted with a service body, customised toolbox, or a specialised equipment fit-out as they provide ”the robust platform professionals demand with the practicality of four doors and five seats”.

Defining the new upmarket T9 Haven-based Osprey is the addition of a power sunroof and “unique” suspension tune while the Osprey X also gains black styling elements that include JAC front grille badge and inserts, alloy wheels, roof bars, wing mirrors, door handles, and side-vent surrounds, all said to heighten its street presence and elevate the ownership experience.

JAC says both Ospreys have been strategically engineered with a 980kg payload to sit under the one-tonne novated lease ceiling, opening up additional fleet and salary packaging opportunities for customers seeking the T9's “outstanding value, safety and reliability in an even more lifestyle-oriented package”.

“The success of our T9 Dual-Cab 4X4 has shown that Australians appreciate the combination of safety, capability, reliability, and great value that JAC delivers,” said JAC Motors Australia managing director Ahmed Mahmoud.

“These four fantastic new T9 family members expand the T9’s appeal for customers with specific requirements – whether that’s the ultimate work platform or a desire for enhanced daily comfort.”

All models in the JAC T9 range are backed by a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty for both private and business owners, 24/7 roadside assistance for up to seven years, capped-price servicing, and an warranty loan vehicle program.

Pricing and final specifications for the new utes will be confirmed closer to their dealership arrival in November.
