Mitsubishi to debut Concept-Sportback as a glimpse of its all-new Lancer hatch1 Mar 2007 THE next-generation Lancer sedan and hatch are still some months away, but Mitsubishi Motors Australia will use tomorrow’s Melbourne motor show opening to give the Concept-Sportback its Australian debut – the showcar that will essentially become the all-new hatch version. The Concept-Sportback was created by Mitsubishi Design Europe’s exterior chief designer Omer Halilhodzic and his team, based in Germany. The vehicle shows off the new styling cues that will be picked up by both the new Lancer when it arrives later this year as well as, ultimately, the turbocharged Evo X supercar - particularly the car’s aggressive front-end styling comprising a deep grille that extends into the lower bumper area. The Concept-Sportback is claimed to combine the pinnacle of Mitsubishi’s sporting credentials overlaid by a stylish new European design language.
