New models - Maserati - MC - PuraLower price than MC20 for new Maserati MCPuraMaserati pitches new MCPura supercar up to $60K less than MC20 predecessor21 Oct 2025 MASERATI importer Ateco Group has announced specifications and pricing details for the MY26 MCPura supercar, a redesigned replacement for the MC20, ahead of its availability Down Under early next year.
Arriving here just six months after debut, the rear-wheel drive MCPura will be available in 1475kg coupe and 1560kg convertible body styles (the open-top version is called ‘Cielo’), with the former priced from $450,000 before on-road costs and options and the Cielo carrying a $70K premium.
The outgoing MC20 coupe and convertible (13 sales YTD) list at $510,000 and $575,000 + ORC respectively, equating to price cuts of $60K and $55K.
Competition includes the Aston Martin Vantage DB12 coupe and convertible from $455,000 and $492,000 + ORC, Ferrari Roma Coupe and Spider from $453,000 and $520,300 + ORC.
Then there is a selection of comparable McLarens and Porsche 911s at similar money or a bunch of Chevrolet Corvettes at about half the price.
Ateco says the made-in-Modena 2026 MCPura will initially be available in limited numbers and rolls out of the historic Maserati plant on Viale Ciro Menotti, where the GT2 Stradale and – from late 2025 – the GranTurismo and GranCabrio are made.
The sleek MCPura has a core structure in carbon-fibre, the same form of lightweight, high-strength material used in Formula One coupled with Maserati’s patented ‘Nettuno’ twin-turbo V6 engine with an “epic” output of 463kW and 720Nm courtesy of more F1-derived tech such as the pre-chamber combustion system featuring twin spark plugs.
Aided by a dual wet clutch eight-speed transmission, it propels the low slung, butterfly-door supercar from 0-100km/h time in a scant 2.9 seconds.
Matching the MCPura’s thrust are big brakes said to be capable of a 100km/h-0 stopping distance of 33 metres according to testing by Maserati.
In addition to the race-tuned suspension and the powerful, howling twin-turbo V6 engine, the butterfly doors on both coupe and convertible open upwards and are a signature feature of the vehicle.
Maserati says since moving production to Modena, the colour palette has been expanded to include more than 30 body colours – in solid, metallic, three-layer, four-layer or matte finish.
“However, certain parts of the bodywork expose the carbon-fibre construction, to highlight the Maserati MCPura’s supercar credentials.”
This is revealed when the doors are open, as the carbon-fibre structure of the chassis is visible on the lower edge of the door opening.
Maserati equipped the Cielo with a retractable roof made with polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) glass – which can switch from opaque to transparent in one second, said to be the first vehicle in its class with this technology.
It is designed to enable driver and passenger to soak up the sun – or stars – in comfort regardless of the weather, with the top up or down.
“We know Maserati enthusiasts have been waiting for the MCPura since it was unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK in July this year. Soon the wait will be over,” said Maserati Australia and New Zealand general manager Grant Barling.
“After the success of the Maserati MC20 we are delighted to launch this latest evolution of Maserati’s iconic mid-engine supercar – and to secure a limited number of vehicles in the initial production orders.
“We expect a mix of long-standing Maserati customers, as well as people who are new to the brand, to be among those who will get their orders in early – and they will be first to receive these cars when they arrive.
At the Goodwood unveiling in July this year, Maserati chief operating officer Santo Ficili said: “Modena is not just our headquarters; it forms part of our identity. We are the oldest automotive marque in (Italy’s) Motor Valley, an area we have helped to build and that we continue to represent around the world. From there, we proudly tell the story of Italian excellence and luxury.”
