Kia slashes Tasman pricing before launch

Kia Australia cuts up to $3000 from price of Tasman ute, driveaway pricing now offered

20 Jun 2025

WITH Kia’s polarising Tasman ute finally about to arrive in dealerships (July), the South Korean manufacturer has taken the bold step of announcing national driveaway pricing for all dual cab pick-up models.

Although WA buyers pay $1000 more across the range, the new schedule effectively cuts between $1100 to $3000 from the price model dependent.

The actual amount varies state by state as each has slightly different tax regimes while dealer deliver charges and transport costs also vary, nevertheless, a discount is a discount and potential Tasman buyers now stand to benefit in the hip pocket.

In cold hard numbers and using Melbourne on road costs as a gauge, the base model Tasman S 4x2 dual-cab pick-up lists for $42,990 excluding on-road costs or $47,845 out the dealer’s door. With the newly announced driveaway pricing that out-the-door number moves to $46,490 which tabulates to a price cut of $1155.

Further up the model walk, Tasman S 4x4, SX 4x4 and SX+ benefit from a $1500 haircut when factoring in the difference between the RRP, on road costs and the new driveaway schedule.

The range topping Tasman X-Line and X-Pro variants go further with a $3000 haircut apiece thanks to the new schedule.

The above savings are approximations but would be close to the mark across other states and put Tasman in a stronger price position against its many competitors comparing favourably against dual-cab segment rivals including the Ford Ranger (from $43,290 - $77,640 in comparable trim) and Toyota HiLux (from $37,300 - $74,310 in comparable trim).

For comprehensive Kia Tasman dual cab pick-up pricing see table below.

When asked for confirmation of a Tasman price cut before launch, a Kia Australia spokesperson said, “With Kia Australia announcing driveaway pricing for the Tasman range, our customers have more concise and better understanding towards what they'll be paying when purchasing their vehicle”.

How much buyers will pay for the imminent Tasman dual cab/chassis due in August is not available which suggests Kia Australia may be adopting a wait and see approach based on sales of the Tasman dual cab pick-up. A single cab/chassis model is schedule before the end of 2025.

Concurrent with Tasman driveaway pricing Kia Australia also announced a swathe of optional Tasman genuine accessories (many still to be priced), some developed locally through 4x4 accessory companies to become available down the track.

They include popular add-ons like towbar kits, included rear recovery points on one version, tonneau covers, canopies, roller shutter covers, roof racks, floor mats, a snorkel, a dust defence kit, headlight protectors, weather shields, side steps, a genuine bullbar.

Tasman launches next month initially in dual cab pick-up guise with 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains all using Kia’s venerable turbocharged 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that has been used in numerous other models from the South Korean manufacturer and is good for 154kW/440Nm driving through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

As reported in GoAuto earlier this year the Tasman will be available in five trimlines  – S, SX, SX+, X-Line, and X-Pro – all with payload ratings exceeding 1000kg, the gross vehicle mass (GVM) listed at 3250kg across all variants, contributing to a gross combination mass (GCM) of 6200kg. Braked towing capacity is listed at up to 3500kg.

All Tasman variants are equipped as standard with an integrated trailer brake controller.

Dual-cab variants will also be offered with a reduced payload option, specifically aimed at meeting the criteria for novated lease buyers.

Kia lists the Tasman dual-cab’s load bed dimensions at 1512mm in length, 1572mm in width, and 540mm in height, quoting a VDA capacity of 1173 litres. An additional 45 litres of storage is offered under the rear seats, which offer slide and recline functions on X-Line and X-Pro grades.

The high-trim X-Line and X-Pro are further offered with a folding console table, and dual wireless smartphone charging pads.

Across the range, we find dual 12.3-inch instrumentation and infotainment screens, and a separate 5.0-inch screen for climate control functions. Connectivity highlights include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring, and Kia Connect remote control functions. Over-the-air software updates are also part of the deal.
