Future models - XpengFive-model rush drives XPeng Australian relaunchRapid product offensive to adds SUV, people movers, city-centric hatch to local portfolio22 Jul 2026 By MATT BROGAN CHINESE electric vehicle manufacturer XPeng will launch five new or substantially updated models in Australia within six months as it accelerates its factory-backed expansion and moves to introduce vehicles in step with its home market.
The rapid product offensive begins with the updated G6 medium SUV and newly launched X9 electric people mover, followed by the L03, G9L, and L05.
Rather than receiving vehicles several years after their Chinese-market debut, XPeng said Australia and New Zealand would increasingly launch models in line with China, underscoring the importance of the region to the company’s international growth plans.
“Five cars in six months – launching in sync with China, not years behind,” said XPeng Australia and New Zealand head of marketing and creativity Damian Royce.
“We’ve begun with the new G6, followed by the new X9 today. The all-new L03, the all-new G9L in November, and the all-new L05 following shortly after.”
The roll-out represents a significant reset for XPeng following its transition from independent distribution under TrueEV to a factory-backed Australian operation earlier this year.
Alongside the new vehicles, XPeng is expanding its dealership coverage, parts distribution, technical assistance, and customer care operations in an effort to establish confidence in the brand’s long-term presence.
Mr Royce said XPeng’s reputation locally would be shaped by the ownership experience as much as by its products, advertising, and in-vehicle technology.
“Will they last? Will anyone pick up the phone? How long do I need to wait for parts? We are building XPeng ANZ to answer every one of those questions,” he said.
XPeng currently has 25 showrooms operating across Australia and New Zealand, with further sites planned through partnerships with established local dealer groups.
XPeng has also established offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Auckland, with further locations planned. The offices will support dealerships and are staffed by local employees empowered to make local decisions.
A national parts warehouse is now operating, with fast distribution supported by a partnership with FedEx. XPeng said the parts operation would continue to expand alongside its vehicle parc and retail network.
Customer support includes a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre factory warranty, 24-hour roadside assistance, a dedicated customer telephone line, and online support channels.
Its technical assistance program operates across three levels, beginning with factory-trained dealership technicians as the first point of contact.
More complicated issues may be diagnosed remotely by Australian technicians using live vehicle data (OTA), while field specialists can attend a dealership when hands-on support is required.
Supporting the five-model rollout is an ownership experience built around factory-backed customer care, advanced software, high-voltage charging systems, and artificial intelligence (AI), reinforcing XPeng’s long-term commitment to the Australian market.
Leading the roll-out is the updated G6, a coupe-style medium SUV available in rear- and all-wheel drive configurations.
The revised four-variant range offers up to 525km of WLTP driving range, while the flagship dual-motor variant develops 358kW and 660Nm.
All variants use an 800-volt electrical architecture and XPeng’s latest battery technology, allowing the battery to be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 12 minutes under suitable conditions.
XPeng says more than 200,000 examples of the G6 have been delivered globally, while the model has achieved five-star ANCAP and Euro NCAP safety ratings.
The updated G6 is joined by the X9, a seven-seat electric people mover that broadens XPeng’s local reach into the premium family and chauffeur markets.
Priced from $89,900 plus on-road costs, the X9 is available in front- and all-wheel drive formats and shares the brand’s 800-volt electrical architecture and rapid-charging capability.
Following the G6 and X9 will be the L03, which was displayed locally in right-hand drive form shortly after its international unveiling.
The coupe-style L03 is expected to sit beneath the G6 and become one of XPeng’s more accessible models, although Australian pricing and detailed specifications remain under wraps. Its rapid appearance in Australia following its international reveal exemplifies XPeng’s intention to narrow the gap between Chinese and Australian vehicle launches.
The larger G9L flagship SUV is scheduled to arrive in November, providing a more spacious and luxurious alternative above the G6.
It will be followed shortly afterwards by the L05, another new SUV positioned within XPeng’s expanding model portfolio.
Both the G9L and L05 were previewed in Australia ahead of their international unveiling, further demonstrating the company’s intention to give this market earlier access to its newest vehicles.
The five-model program is only the opening stage of XPeng’s local expansion, with further products and drivetrain technologies planned beyond the initial six-month roll-out.
The company intends to introduce range-extender (REEV) technology to Australia and New Zealand in 2027, providing an electric-first drivetrain with a combustion engine used to generate electricity for longer journeys.
XPeng is also planning local ultra-fast charging hubs, partnerships with established charging-network operators, and an e-roaming service to simplify access across participating networks.
Its vehicles will continue to receive OTA software updates, enabling features, refinements and system improvements to be added after delivery at no additional cost to customers.
XPeng’s Level 2 Xpilot driver-assistance system is designed to support the driver during motorway, stop-start traffic and parking situations, while requiring the driver to remain attentive and in control.
The company said its use of artificial intelligence (AI) extends beyond assisted driving to include voice controls, vehicle diagnostics, and software functions capable of adapting and improving over time.
XPeng is also exploring broader energy and mobility applications, including charging infrastructure, energy storage, autonomous vehicles, humanoid robotics, and flying vehicles.
However, its immediate Australian priorities remain the rollout of new vehicles, expansion of dealership coverage and establishment of dependable ownership support.
The five-model program, growing retail network, national parts warehouse and three-tier technical assistance system form the foundations of XPeng’s Australian relaunch as it seeks to establish a permanent position in an increasingly competitive new-vehicle market.
