Smart unveils a two-seater cabrio concept at Frankfurt - this time with hybrid urge15 Sep 2005 DAIMLERCHRYSLER’S micro-car brand Smart unveiled the Crosstown at Frankfurt this week, a showcar closely related to the ForTwo cabrio but this time wrapped in a 4WD look and featuring a hybrid powertrain. Designed to demonstrate the Smart ForTwo’s potential flexibility, the 2680mm Crosstown is 180mm longer – as well as slightly taller and wider – than the super-compact ForTwo. Like the ForTwo Cabrio, Crosstown has a convertible roof. This time, however, its removal allows the steeply raked windscreen to be removed and stowed under the front lid. Oh, and, like the front lid, the side doors also feature external hinges.Otherwise, even Smart admits Crosstown is very much a city-going version of theForTwo, err, city car.
