New models - Mahindra - Scorpio - Z8L+Mahindra upgrades safety in Scorpio SUVFull suite of ADAS technologies to counter zero-star ANCAP rating for Mahindra Scorpio5 Dec 2025 FOLLOWING sharp criticism in some circles and a zero-star ANCAP rating, Mahindra has upgraded its flagship, off-road capable MY26 Scorpio Z8L+ Large segment SUV with a suite of Level 2 Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS).
Previously a two-variant range, it is now only available in one spec’, the seven-seat Z8L+ listed from $48,990 driveaway representing a $4000 hike over the current Z8L and $7000 more than the current Z8 (both also driveaway).
Additional to the extensive Level 2 ADAS safety feature upgrade, the MY26 Scorpio scores ventilated front seats, electric park brake with auto hold and auto-dimming interior rear-view mirror.
Mahindra says the MY26 Scorpio Z8L+ “provides a combination of safety, premium comfort, 4WD capability, and value with the ADAS suite marking a major leap forward in safety, technology, and value for Australian customers”.
The ADAS safety and driver support suite ushers in Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control with stop and go, Front Vehicle Start Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist and what is called Smart Pilot Assist that employs a virtual smart pilot in charge of steering, acceleration, and braking to help the driver to keep the vehicle in the centre of the traffic lane (aka lane centring).
Other ADAS features include Traffic Sign Recognition, Forward Collision Warning and High Beam Assist.
The MY26 Scorpion continues to be powered by a turbocharged 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine generating 129kW and 400Nm while complying with Euro6b emissions requirements.
Power transmission is via an Xplor “intelligent” selectable 4WD through a six-speed Aisin automatic with low range and a rear mechanical diff’ lock.
The model features handy kit like brake disc wiping and electronic brake prefill, five driving modes including: Normal, Snow, Mud & Ruts, Sand, LED headlights and taillights, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, and a 7.0-inch colour driver’s display.
Among an extensive standard features list, the Z8L+ is also equipped with seven seats, sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and a cooled glovebox.
It is tow rated at 2500kg braked and has a full size 18-inch steel spare wheel.
The changes to Scorpio mean Mahindra’s SUV range, including all variants of XUV3XO, XUV700 and MY26 Scoprio from launch are standard with Level 2 ADAS. A revised ANCAP rating on Scorpio is no doubt in the pipeline.
The MY26 Mahindra Scorpio is arriving in dealer showrooms “across” summer.
All Mahindra SUVs are warranted for seven years/150,000km and have seven-year roadside assistance as standard. ![]() Read more8th of October 2025 ![]() Mahindra adds colours to XUV 3XO paletteSeven-colour palette adds greater choice to Mahindra XUV 3XO buyersAll new modelsMotor industry news |
